When in Florence, do as Florentine do
What is the first thought that comes to mind when you think of Florence? For me, it’s the golden overlook of Tuscany, the rich scenario of the Uffizi Gallery where every corridor feels like stepping through centuries of artistry, and the history inside the world’s oldest pharmacy — Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella.
Yet Florence isn’t just a city preserved in museums; it’s a living film set that has inspired countless storytellers, one of my favorite “Under the Tuscan Sun” (2003) with Diane Lane.
Under the Tuscan Sun (2003)
As a beauty lover, I couldn’t possibly visit Florence without stepping into the world’s oldest pharmacy — the legendary Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. The historic Santa Maria Novella shop is often crowded — part museum, part perfumery, and part pilgrimage site. There isn’t just one place to experience it; the newer boutique offers a calmer, more approachable way to explore their iconic creations. I’d heard whispers that the Vaniglia (Vanilla) body cream is among their most beloved products — I tried it in the shop — but I hesitated to buy it that day, unsure whether I was truly a fan or not.
Instead, I left with a beautifully wrapped candle and a nourishing hand cream — two little luxuries that now fill my home and bag with the same quiet elegance I felt inside those perfumed walls. I’m always happy to bring home a useful souvenir from the places I visit, but of course, my greatest treasures are the memories — far more precious than any souvenir.
Beautiful “new” shop :)
What did I bought?
my goodies from Florence. Candle Rose Gardenia and hand cream. Cannot wait to use both of it :)
